About the Artist

Julie McKee'a life-long fascination with the arts began as a child in Florida. She has studied drawing, watercolor, photography, fashion design, stained glass, and mosaic media to explore her passion of creating images through the arrangement of smaller points of color. Through her life, she has been able to study under watercolorist Mary Anne Staples, professional mosaist Laurel True at the Institute of Mosaic Arts in California, and also at Auburn University, the University of Guam, and Florida State University.

Julie now specializes in creating custom mosaics for architectural and home settings. She works with her clients to create unique pieces of art designed to compliment their home, work space, or garden. Julie has designed art panels, fireplace tile surrounds, mirrors, garden art, decorative objects, and table tops. She has been published in Mosaic Arts 2005-2006 and is a member of the Society of Mosaic Artists. Julie resides near Washington D.C. in McLean, Virginia with her husband and two children.

Julie has partnered with All Fired Up (allfiredupdc.com)and Maverick Mosaics to offer mosaic classes. She is available for private lessons and after school mosaic lessons for children at her home studio by appointment.
